The lawmaker added that, the contract was awarded in 2009 by the late President Musa Yar’adua. The House resolution followed the adoption of a motion sponsored by Honourable Aishatu Jibril Dukku entitled, “calling attention to the abandonment of the multi-billion naira Kaduna Petroleum college.” According to the lawmaker, the project was abandoned by the “contractors handling the project due to non-release of funds by the federal government and the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF and complete lack of commitment by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources”. The lawmaker further stated that, the then Executive Secretary of the PTDF had stated in March 2014, during budget defence that they had spent N15 billion to develop the institute which was billed to be a world class centre expected to train oil workers in various professionals courses. The lawmaker however said that, due to lack of funds the institute is now an eyesore as billions of naira worth of investment are wasting away. Honourable Dukku equally said that with the ongoing plans by the Federal government to construct about 1000 kilometre pipelines to convey crude oil from Niger Republic to the Kaduna refinery is also key to the project. The motion was adopted when it was put to vote by the Speaker, Honourable Yakubu Dogara.]]>
