The Registrar of Trademarks at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Shafiu Adamu Yauri, mni, has died.

Yauri passed away in Egypt on Friday, August 14, 2026, after a protracted illness, according to family sources.

His remains were scheduled to be buried in his hometown of Sokoto on Tuesday, August 18, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Until his death, Yauri served as Registrar of Trademarks and was a member of several high-level committees.

He was widely associated with efforts to strengthen intellectual property protection and was described as an analyst, adviser and mentor who made significant contributions to the development of trademark administration and intellectual property policy.

A career civil servant, Yauri was remembered by associates as a principled leader known for his integrity, kindness and dedication to public service.

His family, in a statement, expressed appreciation to friends, colleagues and well-wishers for their condolences, prayers and support following his death.

“May Allah (SWT) reward each and every one of you abundantly for your heartfelt condolences, prayers, and support during this challenging time,” the family said.

They added that the messages of sympathy had been a source of strength and comfort to the family.

The family also appealed for continued prayers for the deceased.

“We humbly ask that you continue to remember our Father, your Brother and Friend in your daily prayers,” the statement said.

The family prayed that Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him mercy and admit him into Jannat al-Firdaus.
