In an effort to address the challenges and prospects of Africa’s Air Transport industry, the World United Consumers Organization (WUCO) is pleased to announce its upcoming International Air Transport Conference, scheduled to take place on November 20-21, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
The conference, themed “Air Transport in Africa: Prospects and Challenges,” aims to convene top airline operators, policymakers, regulators, legal experts and stakeholders in the aviation sector to discuss the current state of Africa’s air transport industry and explore solutions to its challenges.
According to Bar Clement Osuya, President of the World United Consumers Organization, WUCO, “Africa’s air transport infrastructure faces significant growth barriers, including high costs, technical challenges, and legal complexities. The establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) underscores the urgent need to overcome these barriers and ensure seamless movement of people and goods across the continent.”
The two-day conference will provide a collaborative environment for stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions, share expertise, and identify key challenges facing the industry. The event will also explore potential solutions to unlock the full potential of air travel as a catalyst for trade and development in Africa.
The conference which is supported by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Federal Airport Authority, and Nigeria Air Space Management Agency amongst others will serve as a platform for major Aviation Authorities in Africa to participate and work together in creating a more efficient safe and reliable air transport system in the region.
“Africa’s air transport industry has tremendous potential for growth, but it requires collective effort from regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders,” said Osuya. “This conference will serve as a platform for stakeholders to work together towards creating a more efficient, safe, and customer-centric air transport system in Africa.”
The local organising committee urged interested persons to visit the organization’s website for further information as registration for the conference is ongoing, with discounted prices available for early birds until October 31.
