Despite decades of progressive efforts, there’s still a great deal of inequality in workplaces across the country most especially against women. In recent years, the government, employees, and many businesses have worked to stamp out issues involving salary discrepancies between genders. They’ve also sought to ensure men and women receive equal treatment but it has been unachievable due to the challenging inequality against women.

International Women’s Day is a day marked annually on March 8th all around the world as a day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is one of the days to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and raise funds for female-focused charities. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and raise awareness about women’s equality.

This year, ESQ Practical Lawyers Academy has dedicated a day to celebrate the important contributions of women to the development of law practice in Nigeria. According to Lere Fashola, Founder of the ESQ Practical Lawyers Academy this event is scheduled for Monday March 8^th 2020 with the theme: “Challenging Work Place Inequality against Women”. The webinar scheduled for 1pm will feature some of the finest and eminent members of the Legal Profession in Nigeria including Professor Yemi Bamgbose SAN, the current Chairperson of the NBA Women Law Forum and a foremost Professor of Criminal Law in Africa who will moderate the webinar,  Mrs Funke Adekoya SAN, Partner, AELEX and a prominent leader of the Nigerian Bar, Mrs Abimbola Akeredolu SAN Partner Banwo and Ighodalo who made history as the first Female Attorney General of Ogun State, Mrs Mfon Usoro a very active and dynamic leader of the Nigerian Bar and Managing Partner at Paul Usoro & Co and Mrs Chinyere Okorocha, who is the current Vice Chairman of the NBA Women Forum and Partner at Jackson Etti & Edu.

Lere Fashola stated that this theme and the stellar panel demonstrates ESQ’s respect and recognition of the invaluable contributions of the women to the development of the Legal Profession in Nigeria. This topic is apt as it is one of the trending topics in the modern business world. This Webinar will shed light into such issues of gender inequality against women and it’s essential business implications in view of current labor laws.
