In Nigeria, where a person attempting to commit an offence changes his mind midstream, he shall be liable to half of the punishment to which he would otherwise be liable if he completed the criminal act.

If the punishment is imprisonment for life, the maximum punishment he is liable is imprisonment for seven years.
