In Nigeria, it is an offence to donate more than N50,000,000 to a candidate in an election.
Under the Act, a “candidate” is defined as a person who has secured nomination of a political party”. This suggests that individuals can donate more than N50,000,000 to an aspirant who intends to seek political office, but has not secured nomination.
