President Bola Tinubu has called upon his cabinet members to put forth concerted efforts and unwavering commitment in fostering a robust economy that benefits all Nigerians.

Speaking on Monday during the inaugural Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, the President emphasized the need for diligent work and underscored that the citizens’ expectations are high, leaving no room for underperformance.

Tinubu reiterated his government’s policy objectives, which focus on economic reform to establish sustainable and inclusive growth, as well as enhancing national security for overall peace and prosperity. He emphasized that the nation’s progress would depend on the collective experience, skills, intellect, and networking of those appointed to tackle the challenges ahead. The President affirmed that any form of failure would not be tolerated during his administration.

“We are in a period where expectations are soaring, and challenges are formidable. We must exert ourselves and lead our nation toward establishing a vibrant economy that serves Nigeria’s interests. Unemployment remains at unacceptable levels, and the threat of climate change looms,” President Tinubu stated.

To navigate these complexities, the President underscored the importance of the appointed ministers delivering their utmost best. He reiterated that the policy implementations would reshape the economy, ensure inclusive growth, and enhance security, which is pivotal for achieving peace and prosperity.

Tinubu stressed, “Without security, there can be no investment.”

The inaugural FEC meeting was attended by recently sworn-in ministers, marking the commencement of their official duties. The President had administered the oath of office to 45 ministers on August 21, 2023, following their screening and approval by the Senate.

President Tinubu’s charge to the FEC echoes his resolute commitment to fostering economic growth and overall well-being for the Nigerian populace. The message underscores his expectation that the cabinet members will actively contribute to steering the nation through its challenges and toward sustainable progress.
