President Bola Tinubu on Sunday departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, ahead of his official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The President will participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, following an invitation from the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The summit, scheduled for early January, brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to advance global sustainable development initiatives.

According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the 2026 summit will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, focusing on connecting innovation, finance, and people to drive sustainable growth.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit. His trip comes days after he returned to Lagos to spend the holidays following official visits to Borno and Bauchi states, where he commissioned federal and state collaborative projects.

The President was received at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, government officials, and All Progressives Congress leaders before departing for Europe.
