The Police Service Commission (PSC) has launched a whistleblowing policy aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the recruitment process of the Nigeria Police Force. The initiative is designed to identify breaches promptly and hold offenders accountable, regardless of their position.

A statement signed on Monday by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations at the PSC, noted that the Commission would use the ongoing admission exercise at the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, as a test run for the new policy.

The statement warned that anyone found violating the rules of the whistleblowing policy would face consequences, no matter how highly placed. It also confirmed that a high-powered PSC delegation had been dispatched to Wudil to oversee the 2025 Police Academy (POLAC) admission screening, which began today.

Members of the delegation include Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, a retired Supreme Court Justice representing the Judiciary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu, fdc, representing the Police, among others.

PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu, urged all participants in the screening exercise to adhere strictly to the rules, assuring that the Commission is committed to sanitising the police recruitment process. He added that the institution would take pride in the quality of recruits produced under the revamped system.

DIG Argungu also encouraged state governments to monitor the admission processes closely to safeguard their quota and reiterated the Commission’s commitment to inclusivity in managing police personnel. He called for understanding from stakeholders as the PSC implements changes aimed at improving results.
