The Acting Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Justice Clara Ogunbiyi (retd.), has informed staff members of the commission that the management will engage the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba; and the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, to understand the common ground of each other’s responsibilities.

The former Justice of the Supreme Court made this known on Monday in Abuja, during an address on the mandate of the commission as provided for in paragraphs 29 and 30 of the 3rd Schedule of the 1999 Constitution and Section 6(1) of the Police Service Commission Establishment Act, 2001.

She added that the commission’s management intends to operate an all-inclusive and open-door policy as provided by the provision of the relevant laws while calling on staff members of the PSC to inculcate mutual respect, good conduct and character among one another and towards the management. She stressed that the management would do its best to take the service delivery in the commission to an enviable and excellent pedestal.

When contacted for reaction, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and the spokesperson for the Ministry of Police Affairs, Bolaji Kazeem, neither picked up the calls nor responded to messages sent to their mobile devices as of the time of filing this report.

Recall that there has been a disagreement between the PSC and the NPF authorities over the recruitment of police constables, among other issues.
