The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two constable candidates for alleged certificate forgery at the Police Training School Bauchi.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, made the disclosure in a statement issued on Friday.

Habib said the screening was led by A.Y. Dickson, who headed the team conducting the recruitment process at the training school.

According to him, the team screened a total of 403 candidates, comprising 354 applicants for general duty and 49 specialists.

He added that two candidates were arrested during the exercise after they were found with forged results from the National Examinations Council.

Habib explained that both suspects bore the same name, Yusuf Usman, and had been moving together throughout the screening process before their documents were discovered to be fake.

“The team screened 354 General Duty and 49 Specialists, making a total of 403 candidates.

“Two candidates were arrested with forged NECO results, both named Yusuf Usman, and they were moving together throughout the process,” he said.

The police spokesperson noted that the team lead directed that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of ‘E’ Division for further investigation.

He also warned applicants against engaging in fraudulent acts during recruitment exercises.

The screening is part of the ongoing nationwide recruitment of 50,000 police constables, which commenced on Monday.
