The Council of Legal Education has announced the commencement of registration for the 2026 Bar Final (Resit) Examinations and Mandatory Resit Revision Programme for candidates who were unsuccessful in previous attempts.

According to a public notice signed by the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja, registration will commence on January 26 and close on February 28, 2026, via an online portal.

The Council outlined the following schedule for the resit programme:

Mandatory Resit Revision Lectures and Tutorials March 16 – May 8, 2026 Abuja Campus Only
Examinations May 16 – May 22, 2026 Abuja Campus Only

 

The Council announced the following fee structure:

  • Application Fee (For All): N30,000.00
  • All Papers: N120,000.00
  • One Paper: N70,000.00
  • Revision Programme: N50,000.00

The Council emphasised that revision classes are mandatory for all paper candidates, with attendance to be taken throughout the programme. Only candidates who attain at least 80 per cent attendance will be eligible to sit for the examinations.

However, reference (single) subject candidates may choose not to attend the revision classes.

Registration fees are to be paid to the account of the Council of Legal Education on the CBN/REMITA Payment Gateway, through electronic transfer or at any commercial bank with the following details:

  • Name of MDA: Council of Legal Education
  • Name of Service/Purpose: Resit Examination or Revision Programme
  • Payer’s Full Name

Candidates are required to pay the application fee of N30,000 through REMITA and send a clear scanned copy of their Remita Receipt (RRR), surname, other names, email address, and phone number to the official email: resit2026@lawschool.gov.ng. Login details will be sent to candidates’ email addresses after payment confirmation.

Candidates are required to forward the following documents to the Office of the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja, on or before March 20, 2026:

  • Two copies of printout of the Bar Final Result (all previous attempts)
  • Four passport photographs
  • Two photocopies of Law School ID Card
  • Two copies of payment receipts

The closing date for submission of completed application documents is Friday, March 20, 2026.

The Council warned that candidates who register but fail to turn up for the examination will forfeit the registration fee. It also noted that accommodation will only be available for the period of the examination at a moderate fee.
