Legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) has said the Senate Building donated to Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) would be completed by October 2024.

Olanipekun, who is the immediate past chairman of the Body of Benchers, had promised to construct the Senate building when he was appointed the pioneer chancellor of the university by the Kayode Fayemi-led defunct administration.

The senior lawyer, it would be recalled also promised not to take allowance or accept any other benefit but to humbly contribute to the development of the state-owned university.

Olanipekun said the decision was borne out of the desire to replicate what he did at the University of Ibadan, where he had served as pro-chancellor for four years, and Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, where he was also pro-chancellor for eight years, at his country home.

A statement signed by Olanipekun media aide, Kola Igandan in Ado Ekiti, said all essential materials had been procured, including iron rods, trailer loads of cement, all aluminum fittings and windows, among others. The suppliers and vendors have also been mobilised to site.

“When completed, the Senate Building will have the following: State-of-the-art conference room, vice-chancellor’s office, Senate conference room, council’s conference room, deputy vice chancellor’s office, registrar’s office, bursar’s office as well as administrative offices, among others,’’ he said.
