Obra Legal successfully hosted the second edition of its Obra Insight Series on Monday, October 6, 2025, bringing together key stakeholders in the legal and fiscal sectors to discuss the evolving tax regime in Nigeria.
Themed “Navigating Nigeria’s New Tax Landscape,” the session offered critical insights into recent tax reforms and their implications for businesses, citizens, and government revenue administration.
The event featured Chukwuemeka Onyendi, Assistant Manager at KPMG Nigeria, as the guest speaker, who delivered an in-depth presentation on the new tax legislation. Onyendi highlighted the ripple effects of the reforms across Nigeria’s legal framework, emphasizing taxpayer obligations and compliance requirements under the updated laws.
Obra Legal also welcomed representatives from the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (ESIRS) and the Enugu State Revenue Assurance Unit, including Henrietta Amadi, Director of Personal Income, Dr. Alice Mbah, Director of Tax Audit, and Mrs Nkiru Nzeh, representing the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor on Revenue, Mrs Adenike Okebu. Their contributions provided practical perspectives on how the new tax Act impacts state revenue generation, enforcement, and public compliance.
The discussion spanned topics such as tax administration, compliance mechanisms, and the broader socio-economic impact of the reforms. Stakeholders also underscored the urgent need for public sensitization and collaboration to foster an efficient, fair, and transparent tax system.
The session, held at the Obra Legal Conference Room, was structured to include a presentation, Q&A session, guest remarks, and networking opportunities. Virtual attendees from the ESIRS Revenue Assurance team also participated, reflecting the hybrid approach of the Insight Series.
