The International Law Association (ILA) Nigeria Branch has opened entries for its 2026 Merit Awards, calling on members of the legal profession to nominate outstanding professionals who have demonstrated excellence, leadership, and impact in the study and practice of international law in Nigeria and beyond.

In an announcement ahead of its 9th Annual Conference scheduled for April 13-15, 2026, in Abuja, the Association invited entries across a wide range of categories.

Award Categories

The ILA Nigeria Awards 2026 features the following categories:

  • Outstanding Achievement Medal
  • Distinguished Service Award (ILA-NG Members only)
  • ILA Book Prize
  • Emerging Star Award for an Outstanding Young Professional

Nomination Guidelines

According to the Association, eligible candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by others.

Nominations are to be submitted via a letter accompanied by a detailed CV, outlining the specific award category and how the candidate meets the award criteria.

All nominations should be directed to the Chairperson of the Conference Organising Committee and sent to: conference@ila-nigeria.org.ng

Submission Deadline

The deadline for submission of nominations is March 7, 2026.

The Association encouraged members of the legal community to be part of what it described as “a milestone year celebrating excellence in the study and practice of international law.”
