The Delta State Attorney-General has partnered with the police to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved in the alleged sexual assault incident linked to the Ozoro festival.

The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Aina Adesola, on Monday received a delegation from the office of the Attorney-General at the State Police Headquarters in Asaba.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the delegation was led by the Attorney-General, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (SAN), and included members of the state police management team.

The statement noted that the Attorney-General commended the police leadership for its swift response in restoring calm in Ozoro following the incident, which sparked widespread public concern.

He assured that the state government would support the police to ensure diligent prosecution of all those found culpable, stressing that this would serve as a deterrent and guarantee justice for victims.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police appreciated the Attorney-General for the visit and the state government for its support in maintaining peace in the affected community.

He assured that measures have been put in place to prevent a recurrence, noting that he had personally visited Ozoro to engage stakeholders and had directed the investigation team to ensure prompt prosecution of suspects.

The police boss further reassured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring that all identified perpetrators are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
