I read that post but couldn’t relate it to the trajectory attributed to it by the overheated reactions; maybe, I was limited by my ignorance of whatever was insinuated to have happened at Uyo. For starters, I do not know that Agwuncha, of counsel is seised of the clout to convince any Anambra based lawyer to vote against the aspiration of Obi – Okafor, SAN. Such would be an act of self – immolation, which could be possible only amongst NBA politicians. Talking of NBA politicians, I dare say that those are the real villains that we must all guard against. Having realized that the NBA office could be a veritable source of alternative income, these NBA entrepreneurs have latched unto NBA offices and held on as if their very survival depends on those (maybe so). These folks hop from one NBA office to another. In this regard, I doff my hat for Aleghe, SAN, for introducing reforms that barred these NBA office entrepreneurs for a while, after leaving office. These are the real enemies of the Nigerian lawyer, who do nothing but device means of perpetually extorting the Nigerian lawyer. It’s trite that the life/reign is usually short and brutish, for any organization that turns the very people it ostensibly exists to protect into her quarry (as the NBA has done). This is inevitable because man, by his very nature, never really surrenders and accepts his exploitation as a fact of life. Further, the groaning majority of people in such organization is ever ready to destroy it from within. Having been a member of the NBA for almost two decades, I am yet to see one thing that the NBA does for the average lawyer to justify the humongous sums of money that it continuously mines from lawyers, directly and indirectly. Maybe, I just dropped in from the outer space, and needs to be educated on what benefits the Nigerian lawyer derives from the NBA. The act of designing the stamp to expire is just one of such acts of rape of the Nigerian lawyer. These really need to be addressed, else the NBA would lose her very existence in due course.]]>
