The senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Jide Ipinsagba, has declared that no automatic ticket was reserved for lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress at all levels.

Ipinsagba refuted a report doing the rounds that the leadership of the APC was planning to grant the lawmakers an automatic ticket to contest in the 2027 general election.

The APC senator, who spoke in a chat with journalists in Akure on Monday, described the report as a mere rumour, adding that no such decision had been taken at any level of the ruling party.

He said, “As a procedural person, anything that is not written, I don’t believe in it. It’s an insinuation.

“People are thinking ahead of things. Well, if it is the thought of the people, who am I to fault it? There is no place where such a decision was taken.”

Ipinsagba, who is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Procurement, reiterated his commitment to delivering quality representation and attracting federal projects to the senatorial district.

He also assured the people that the proposed bill on the Information and Communication Technology University in Ikare-Akoko, which he moved, would soon receive the desired nod.

“My constituents remain my top priority. I’m for its development. We have made strides in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, but there is still more work to be done, coupled with the already ongoing ones,” he said.

While speaking on the poor state of federal roads in Ondo North Senatorial District, the senator stated that relevant agencies would be engaged to ensure that the roads received the necessary attention.

“We will continue to lobby for federal intervention on road repairs,” he stressed.

On the bill proposing the creation of additional state (the Ose State), which has already passed its first reading in the House of Representatives, Ipinsagba said, the bill was still in its early stages, adding that when it got to the Senate,” we will engage in robust discussions and ensure that the people’s interests are represented.”
