The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abuja chapters, have rejected the abrupt termination of the public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement between the NISA medical groups and Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) at Garki Hospital.

Speaking during a joint press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Dr Enema Amodu, the chairman of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the NMA and Moses Ebute (SAN), chairman of the NBA, Abuja branch, said the move would lead to sudden loss of jobs by close to 1,000 workers.

He noted that the action would terminate the postgraduate medical training, as well as internship programmes of doctors, pharmacists and nurses presently running in the institution.

He said these accredited programmes had been largely responsible for the high standard and ethical practice of the Garki Hospital over the last 15 years of concession.

In his contribution, Ebute said there was nowhere in the world that one month notice was given for a 15-year lease.
