The National Judicial Institute (NJI) on Tuesday, April 30, 2025, played host to the leadership of the Nigerian Law Society (NLS) in a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and advancing the legal profession in Nigeria.

The visiting delegation, led by the NLS President, Chief Mela Audu Nunghe, SAN, comprised eight senior members of the Society. They were received at the NJI headquarters by the Sole Administrator of the Institute, Hon. Justice Salisu G. Abdullahi (Rtd).

In his remarks, Chief Nunghe reiterated the NLS’s commitment to promoting the rule of law and enhancing the administration of justice. He expressed the Society’s desire to partner with the NJI on a range of initiatives, including joint training programmes, advocacy for legal reforms, and professional development for members of the Bar and Bench.

“The Nigerian Law Society is focused on strengthening the legal profession through collaboration with key institutions like the NJI,” Chief Nunghe stated. “We believe that a strategic partnership will not only promote capacity building but also elevate the standards of justice delivery in Nigeria.”

Responding, Hon. Justice Abdullahi commended the NLS for its proactive engagement and shared vision. He welcomed the prospect of collaboration, especially in areas of judicial training, research, and professional ethics, noting that such synergy would yield long-term benefits for the country’s justice sector.
