The Niger State Government has pledged to build a new parish in Kafin-Koro in honour of late Rev. Father Isaac Achi, the Priest of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, who was burnt to death by bandits last Sunday.

The Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane disclosed this when he led a government delegation to Most Rev. Martin Uzoukwu, the Catholic Bishop of Minna at the St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral, Minna during the wake keep mass to commiserate with the Christian community over the incident.

The SSG said the exit of Rev. Father Achi at this time was painful, saying that his legacy of selfless service to humanity remained evergreen.

He described the late priest as an exceptional clergy who preached salvation and impacted positively to his followers everywhere he served

Matane told Most Rev. Uzoukwu that the government would collaborate with the Catholic Diocese of Minna and other organisations to find a lasting solution to insecurity that had become a major threat to lives and property of the citizens in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the Catholic Bishop of Minna, Most Rev. Uzoukwu applauded the government for sending the delegation to commiserate with them over the incident and described Rev. Achi as a gentle and peace-loving priest.

The late priest would be buried today, Friday in Minna, the state capital.
