Former 1st Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and 2026 presidential hopeful, John Aikpokpo-Martins, has called for transparency and fairness in the ongoing investigation into the recent Ibom Air incident.

His intervention follows the August 10 Uyo Lagos flight controversy, where cabin crew member Comfort Emmanson was allegedly dragged naked by airline staff, an incident that has since gone viral on social media.

Confirming developments, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), through its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, stated that Emmanson, Juliana Edward, and other Ibom Air crew members have been summoned for questioning.

Aikpokpo-Martins, in a statement titled “Statement on NCAA Inquiry into Ibom Air Incident”, urged the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) to actively participate in the inquiry to guarantee fairness, integrity, and justice in the process.

“In the interest of ensuring transparency, fairness, and integrity in the inquiry, I urge the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) to participate in the investigation in the interest of the public,” he said.

He further volunteered to be part of any team constituted to monitor or contribute to the inquiry, stressing the need for a thorough and just resolution.
