The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Warri Branch is set to host a two-day energy webinar titled “Unlocking New Horizons: Opportunities for Legal Practitioners in Nigeria’s Energy Transition (Gas, Electric Power and Renewables)” on Tuesday, November 26th and Wednesday, November 27th, 2024. The webinar, which starts at 3 PM (WAT) with the session opening at 2:45 PM, will feature Okezi Okah-Avae as the keynote speaker.

Okezi Okah-Avae is an oil and gas, energy, and commercial lawyer with over 12 years of experience as a general legal and regulatory compliance adviser in the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) from the University of Lagos and a Master’s Degree in Oil & Gas Law from the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom.

Currently serving as the General Counsel at Tetracore Energy Group and Board Secretary, Okah-Avae has played key roles in various high-profile projects. During his tenure as a Senior Legal Counsel with the Nigerian Gas Company Limited (NGC) and Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Limited (NGMC), he was instrumental in negotiating and finalizing the Project Agreements for the NGC – NGMC – Seplat ANOH gas development project, which aims to deliver 3.4 BSCF/D of gas. He also provided legal advice on the construction and installation of the $2.8 Billion Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline and Stations Project, as well as the Gas Monetization Strategy for two key confidential OMLs.

Okah-Avae’s expertise extends to his role as a Legal Specialist on the World Bank-funded Power Sector Recovery Program (PSRP), where he advised the Federal Government on improving the power sector’s institutional framework, governance, and transparency to encourage private sector investment.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the legal profession, Okah-Avae was awarded the Nigerian Rising Star Award for 2018 by Esq Nigerian Legal Awards and named one of the Top 40 Lawyers in Nigeria Under Age 40.
