The 2019 Bar Week of the branch is to hold from 18th to 23rd May 2019 in Uyo.
The week with the theme: “Balancing Power and Privileges in the Pursuit of Justice” will officially be declared open on Monday, 20th May, 2019 by His Excellency, Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom state at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the State Judiciary Headquarters, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo by 10am.
NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION (NBA), UYO HOLDS 2019 BAR WEEK
The Uyo Branch of Nigerian Bar Association holds her 2019 Bar Week from 18th to 23rd May, 2019 in Uyo. The week with the theme: “Balancing Power and Privileges in the Pursuit of Justice” will officially be declared open on Monday, 20th May, 2019 by His Excellency, Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom state at the Multi Purpose hall of the State Judiciary Headquarters, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo by 10am.
Mr. Paul Usoro (SAN), President of Nigerian Bar Association will chair the opening ceremony of the Week, while former Attorney General of the Federation, Elder Godwin Kanu Agabi (SAN) will present the keynote address at the event which will attract participants from across the country including erudite Judges, Senior Advocates of Nigeria, lawyers; members of the nation’s security agencies, the organized private sector, human rights community and socio-cultural organizations. Other speakers, include; a former Justice of the Court of Appeal of Gambia, Dr. Jacob Abiodun Dada, R.N. Godwins, former Solicitor General, currently Head of Civil Service of Rivers state Justice Ifiok Ukana of the High Court of Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Uto Ukpanah, Company Secretary of MTN Communications Nigeria Limited, a former Attorney General of the state, Chief Ekpenyong Ntekim amongst others.
