Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has officially disbanded the Electoral Committee of the NBA Orlu Branch and constituted a Caretaker Committee to oversee the branch’s affairs and organize fresh elections.

This decision follows a directive from the NBA Branch Appeal Committee (South East), which ordered the dissolution of the Orlu Branch Electoral Committee due to unresolved issues concerning the branch elections.

The newly appointed Caretaker Committee is tasked with managing the branch’s activities for a period of three months, culminating in the scheduling of an Annual General Meeting where new branch officers will be elected in line with the NBA Uniform Bye Laws for Branches.

The Caretaker Committee comprises:

  • Chris Ikwuoma – Chairman
  • Jude O. Oduoma – Alternate Chairman
  • Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu – Secretary

Mazi Afam Osigwe stated that the committee is to assume its responsibilities immediately to ensure transparency and proper conduct of the forthcoming elections.

The announcement was dated June 28, 2025, underscoring the NBA leadership’s commitment to upholding democratic processes and resolving electoral challenges within its branches.
