The Nigerian Bar Association has invited lawyers, delegates and other participants at its 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt to join the NBA President for a Health Walk designed to promote wellness, unity and camaraderie among members of the legal profession.

The exercise, tagged “2026 AGC Health Walk,” is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 6:00 a.m., with participants taking off from the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia, Port Harcourt.

In an invitation signed by the NBA National Publicity Secretary, Bridget Edokwe, Esq., the Association said the Annual General Conference should provide lawyers not only with opportunities for professional development, networking and robust intellectual engagements, but also a platform to connect socially and prioritise their physical wellbeing.

“The Annual General Conference is not only a time for robust conversations, professional development and networking; it is also an opportunity for members of the Bar to connect, promote wellness and enjoy moments of camaraderie,” the NBA stated.

According to the Association, the Walkathon will give conference participants an opportunity to step away temporarily from conference halls, recharge and collectively experience the Garden City.

“The Walkathon provides a unique opportunity for us to step away from the conference rooms, recharge and experience the beauty of the Garden City together,” the statement added.

The NBA urged lawyers to participate in large numbers and walk alongside the President, describing the exercise as more than an ordinary morning fitness activity.

“We therefore urge all colleagues to come out in large numbers and walk with the President as we make this more than just a morning exercise, but a movement that celebrates unity, wellness and the spirit of the Nigerian Bar,” it stated.

According to details released by the Local Organising Committee, participants will take off from Liberation Stadium, proceed through Stadium Road to Airforce Junction, Aba Road, turn at First Bank Junction, continue to GRA Junction, pass through Mummy B Road, return to Stadium Road and terminate the walk at Liberation Stadium.

The health walk is being coordinated by Abiye Anthony Abo, Esq., Head of the NBA AGC Local Organising Committee Subcommittee on Sports.

The Association has also provided participants with an opportunity to create personalised Walkathon display pictures by uploading their photographs through a designated platform ahead of the event.

The exercise forms part of activities for the 2026 NBA Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, which is bringing together thousands of lawyers from across Nigeria and beyond for professional engagements, networking and other conference activities.

The health walk is expected to add a fitness and social dimension to the conference, with lawyers taking to major routes in Port Harcourt early Saturday morning in what the NBA described as a celebration of unity, wellness and the spirit of the Nigerian Bar.
