The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Port Harcourt Branch, Cordelia U. Eke, has issued a strong disclaimer regarding the unauthorized use of her name and signature in a petition submitted to the National Assembly.

The petition, purportedly from a coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Rivers State, was titled:
“Severe and Brazen Acts of Lawlessness and Impunity Being Carried Out by the Administration of Rivers State Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas (Rtd) and the Need to Nip Them in the Bud in the Interest of Mutual Peace and Constitutionalism.”

In a statement released today, Mrs. Eke clarified that her name was listed as a signatory and her signature affixed to the petition without her consent or authorization. She emphasized that the only document she endorsed was a press statement issued by the Body of Chairmen of the NBA in Rivers State on 15th April 2025.

“I categorically state that at no time did I endorse or authorize the use of my name or signature on the referenced petition,” Mrs. Eke declared. “The inclusion of my name and signature in the said petition is unauthorized and should be disregarded.”

The NBA Port Harcourt Branch Chairman urged the public, media, and relevant authorities to discountenance the petition’s reference to her name and signature, reiterating her commitment to upholding the integrity of her office.
