The Nigerian Bar Association has said that the issue of printing of stamps by syndicates have been reported to the Nigerian Police.

The Association made this known in the meeting of its National Executive Council, currently ongoing.

According to the information disclosed, there are some sort of connivance by some secretariat staff with the aid of some lawyers, who print same without funds being remitted to NBA account — that they are waiting for the report from the police, having laid a complaint before them.

The NEC is also looking at ways to resolve the issue with respect to the halted sittings of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC). This is as a result of the recent Supreme Court judgment on the quorum of the Committee.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Malam Yusuf Ali, and Mr. Ebenezer, suggested that a stakeholder interaction meeting be convened for issues to be fully deliberated upon with the LPDC and the Body of Benchers in conjuncture with the NBA. Also to be deliberated upon is the decision of the Supreme Court which states that NBA is not a jurisdiction person; and that primary complainants are to be present when the LPDC sitting is to hold. Eyebrows were also raised on the venue of the LPDC sittings.

On accommodation challenges faced by NEC members, it was affirmed that there have been improvements. The NBA President, Paul Usoro, SAN, however promised improving in those areas that need to be addressed.
