The NBA Chairman in the state, Baffa Alhassan, spoke on Wednesday while reacting to the alleged killing of one Hussaini Andaza by personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). Alhassan said the use of excessive force by security personnel was totally unacceptable to the association. He urged the Police and the NSCDC to investigate the matter and bring the perpetrators to book. “The NBA Dutse branch wishes to express its deepest regret over the incident of 14th July 2017 involving officers and men of the FRSC and NSCDC on the one hand and members of NURTW on the other hand. “The sad event led to the death of one Hussani Andaza who is a member of the NURTW while a police personnel was injured because of a gunshot. “This is the second time within the year that security agencies in Jigawa used force leading to the death or grievous bodily injury to citizens. “We wish to state categorically that the use of unreasonable and/or excessive force on unarmed citizens is totally unacceptable. “The life of every citizen is sacred and must be protected by the security agencies. “We, therefore, call on the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to collaborate and hasten investigation into the unfortunate incident and bring the culprits to book,” he said. The association equally cautioned members of the public to desist from taking laws into their hands. He said such a habit could lead to a state of anarchy, with members of the public the victims of lawlessness. Alhassan also called on the leadership of NURTW to call its members to order. He said the association, pursuant to its mandate of protecting the rule of law, had set up a team of five lawyers to work on the case and ensure its conclusion.]]>
