The highly anticipated energy law training programme, jointly organised by the Nigerian Bar Association Institute of Continuing Legal Education (NBA-ICLE) and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), has kicked off today in impressive fashion in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

As Day 1 of the two-day event unfolds, over 500 lawyers from 35 branches of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) have gathered in person, surpassing initial expectations. Additionally, the organisers have ensured that virtual participants are not left out, providing a Zoom link (https://ncdmb-gov-ng.zoom.us/j/81970794532) for remote attendance, further expanding the reach of this significant initiative.

Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of NBA-ICLE, officially opened the training this morning with a rousing welcome address. He emphasised the strategic importance of the initiative, stating, “This training represents a pivotal moment for the Nigerian legal profession in the energy sector. The overwhelming turnout we’re witnessing today, both in person and online, underscores the critical need for specialised knowledge in oil and gas law among our practitioners.”

The ongoing sessions, led by experts from the Energy Law and Policy Faculty of the NBA-ICLE, are immersing participants in comprehensive discussions covering various aspects of energy law, from regulatory frameworks to international best practices in oil and gas transactions. The virtual setup ensures that remote attendees can fully engage with the content and participate in discussions.

The atmosphere at the physical venue is charged with enthusiasm as lawyers eagerly engage in interactive sessions and case studies, while virtual participants contribute actively through the online platform. Many attendees have expressed their appreciation for the inclusive nature of the training, which has made this valuable knowledge accessible to a broad spectrum of legal professionals across Nigeria.

A participant from Port Harcourt, speaking during a brief break, shared, “The quality of instruction and the depth of content have already exceeded my expectations. This training is precisely what we needed to elevate our practice in the energy sector.”
