Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has directed the immediate suspension of the NBA Isiokpo Branch Election which has been scheduled to hold.

This is consequent upon the appeal lodged by (1) Promise U. Ichegbo, Esq. (2) Kenneth C. Igwe, Esq. and (3) Sunny O. Woke, Esq., to the NBA Election Appeal Panel of the Eastern Zone meant to handle appeals emanating from the decisions of the Election Committees of NBA Branches.

Meanwhile, the direction to suspend the Isiokpo Branch Election is contained in a letter dated 10th day of June, 2020 which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer(TNL) and signed by the NBA General Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Gunu Taidi, Esq.

The letter was directed to the Chairman of the Election Committee, Zaria Branch, Isiokpo.

The letter reads:

RE: NBA 2020 BRANCH ELECTIONS: APPEALS PANELS

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Paul Usoro, SAN constitited Appeals Panels to handle appeals arising from decisions of various Election Committees set up by the Branches of the NBA.

There are appeals by (1) Promise U. Ichegbo, Esq. (2) Kenneth C. Igwe, Esq. and (3) Sunny O. Woke, Esq. & Others pending before the Panel (Eastern Zone) and you are by this letter directed to suspend the election schedule for Isiokpo Branch pending the determination of the appeals under reference.
