The Birnin Kebbi Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is gearing up to host a highly anticipated “Law Week” event from Sunday, May 26th to Saturday, 1st June, 2024.

The weeklong event, which carries the theme “Access To Justice: Walk The Talk”, will feature an array of activities and distinguished guest speakers.
The event will be graced by the presence of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, CFR, the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman of the Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, who is the Royal Father of the event.
The event will kick off on Sunday, May 26th with a church service, a visit to the Emir of Argungu, and a novelty football match between the NBA and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). This will be followed by a live program on local television and radio stations.
The main opening ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27th, with the arrival of the special guest of honor, His Excellency, Comr. Dr. Nasir Idris, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State. The ceremony will also witness the presence of other dignitaries, including Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, and Junaidu Bello Marshall, PhD, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Kebbi State.
The event will also host three key panel discussion sessions on Monday, focusing on “Access to Justice in Kebbi State: Moving Forward”, “Women in Society: Pressing Issues”, and “State Police: A Panacea to Insecurity in Northern Nigeria”.
Additionally, a medical outreach program, organized by the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) in collaboration with the Muslim Lawyers Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Kebbi State Chapter, will be held during the event.
The program of events continues with the following activities:
On Thursday, May 30th, there will be a Bar/Bench Forum Meeting chaired by the Chief Judge of Kebbi State, followed by a prison visit.
On Friday, May 31st, a health awareness walk will be led by the Chairman of the NBA Birnin Kebbi Branch, and Jumu’at prayers will be observed.
The “Law Week” event will culminate in a grand dinner on Saturday, June 1st, where awards will be presented to distinguished guests, including His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, and Honorable Justice Amina Adamu Augie (Rtd), a Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
