The NBA Technical Committee for Conference Planning (TCCP) has enjoined members of the bar to disregard what it described as some false news making the round that the Conference venue for the 2019 NBA AGC has not been booked.

This was contained in a notice issued by the NBA National Publicity Secretary, Kunle Edun, and sighted by TNL.
According to the TCCP, the information is a lie from the pit of hell, adding that the purveyor of the false news cast aspersion on the integrity of the person of the NBA President, which is highly unbecoming of a lawyer of any age at the bar.

NBA-AGC 2019: UPDATE
Good morning, dear noble colleagues.
Recall that the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro, SAN with the approval of the National Executive Committee of the NBA, set up the the NBA Technical Committee on Conference Planning, chaired by Mr. Gbenga Oyebode.
The TCCP has since swung into action and the members of the Committee are working hard to ensure that NBA members have the best conference.
Lagos is the host State for this year and Eko Hotels Convention Centre will host the plenary sessions of the AGC which will hold between August 23/8/ 2019 to 30/8/2019.
At the last NEC meeting of the NBA held in Abuja in Abuja on 28/3/2019 the TCCP Chairman presented the Committee’s report to NEC. NEC approved the report and members will be advised soon on the conference fees, which would be pocket-friendly.
Eko Hotels Convention Centre has a capacity of of 5000 persons (theatre style) but appropriate arrangements have also been made by the Committee and the management of the Eko Hotel to accommodate more conferees within the same facility. It is a fact that there are very few facilities in Nigeria that have 5000 sitting capacity. TCCP assures members that every measure would be taken to ensure that conferees have a memorable conference.
TCCP is presently compiling a compendium of personalities of international repute as keynote Speaker, Sessions’ Speakers and discussants. The various topics for discussions are woven round the theme of the AGC, which is FACING THE FUTURE. This theme is apposite considering the contemporary challenges the legal Profession, the Judiciary, the business world and the country are being confronted with, and the need to chart a workable solution to these challenges.
The TCCP is also working with the Local Organising Committee to put in place a robust package of social events, so that members and their families can have a fun-filled and relaxing time at the Lagos Conference.
TCCP enjoins members to disregard some false news going the rounds that the Conference venue has not been booked. This false news was said to have been the outcome of a conversation with NBA Secretariat staff using the NBA toll free line that Eko Hotel Convention Center has not been firmed up. This is a lie from the pit of hell. The purveyor of this false news also cast aspersion on the integrity of the person of the NBA President and his family. This is highly unbecoming of a lawyer of any age at the bar.
This ill manner notwithstanding, the NBA is glad that the recently commissioned toll free line has been confirmed to be working efficiently. The NBA toll free line is one of the policies initiated by the President of the NBA to enable members have easy accessibility to the National Secretariat, and this is confirmed by the conversation that the author of the false news was said to have had with the staff of the Secretariat.
