Lawyers in Nigeria now have a new avenue to earn income from notarisation requests through the Naija Virtual Notary platform, designed to support legal practitioners who are either not Notaries Public or are yet to be accredited to perform digital notarisation by the Supreme Court.

Members of the public often assume all lawyers are notaries, leading to frequent referrals and missed earnings. The new digital service enables lawyers to take up such requests, process them online, and bill their clients directly.

According to the service operators, lawyers can complete the notarisation process through the following steps:

  1. Visit the platform’s website and select “Request Notarisation”.
  2. Create an account or log in to an existing one to access the dashboard.
  3. Click “Request Notarisation” to begin the process.
  4. Fill out the required form, upload a valid means of identification, and attach the document for notarisation.
  5. Make payment for the service — currently ₦30,000 or $20 per document.
  6. Once notarised, the document will be available for download and printing.

Operators of the platform explained that lawyers remain free to charge clients above the standard fee and keep the profit as service earnings.

For enquiries or assistance, users can reach the support team via admin@naijavirtualnotary.mtouchlegal.com or the live chat available on the website. The platform is also active across social media under the name Naija Virtual Notary.
