Damilola Ogun, the estranged lover of Mike Adenuga’s son, Eniola, has been released from detention, Punch reports.

Our correspondent learnt that she was released after her child’s custody case was withdrawn from Justice Oyekan Abdullahi of the Lagos State High Court.

Our correspondent had reported that Eniola and Damilola were in a relationship during which the 25-year-old became pregnant and had a child, Athena.

Disagreement broke out between the duo and their families, resulting in a series of legal battles for the custody of the child.

A Chief Magistrate, T.A. Elias, had given custody to Damilola.

Abdullahi, however, ordered her arrest for not producing the child in court.

The high court judge had been accused by a non-governmental organisation, Legal Defence and Assistance Project, of bias for issuing the order, which had led to Damilola’s arrest and detention at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.

The legal officer of LEDAP, Adaeze Nkonkelonye, in a petition to the Chief Judge of Lagos, Justice Opeyemi Oke, said Abdullahi did not put into consideration the uncontested magistrate’s court ruling which gave custody to Damilola.

She said Abdullahi rather relied on a “fraudulent agreement” signed and presented by only the applicant’s counsel which gave custody to the applicant (Eniola).

A human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, said Damilola had been released.

He added that the case had also been transferred from the judge.

“The case has been taken from her and transferred to the Administrative Judge, Justice Alogba, for re-assignment.

“The Court of Appeal has also served hearing notices on all the parties. Based on the pending application, we applied for the police to grant her bail, which they did.

“The child is still with her based on the ruling of the magistrate which gave her custody,” he said.
