An unspecified number of people were reportedly killed in a fresh ambush on Borno Governor Babagana Zulum’s convoy in Monguno.

Sources disclosed about 12 policemen were said to have been killed in the attack.

The source also added 13 civilians on the convoy were also killed.

Five soldiers were reported to have been kidnapped in an Armored Personal Carriers(APC) carted away by the terrorists.

Other six government vehicles were also carted away by the insurgents.

Zulum, who is determined to relocate all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state, had flown into Monguno on a helicopter based on security advice.

He was not in the convoy when the incident took place.

He is expected to relocate over 3,000 IDPs to communities around Monguno and its environs.

This is the second time his convoy is being attacked by the insurgents in the northern parts of Borno apparently in an attempt to frustrate his relocation drive of IDPs.

No official statement was yet released by the security agencies in Maiduguri at the time of filling this report.
