Job title: Litigation Lawyer
Location: Lagos
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES
As a lawyer in our reputable law firm with a flair for litigation, you will be will be responsible for and must possess the following:
– Be conversant with relevant Laws, Rules of Court, Rulings and Regulations for specific Courts in Nigeria
– Exceptionally skilled in drafting Court Processes
– Negotiating Settlements
– Moving Applications and Motions in Court
– Must be able to argue in all hierarchy of Courts in Nigeria
– Must be able to represent clients within and outside jurisdiction
– Presenting Arguments in Court
– Draft and Review different forms of Contracts and Legal Documents
– Applicant will be required to conduct thorough investigations into client matters, including performing Legal Research, Analysis and Sourcing Expert Opinion
– Applicant may be required to attend Mediation Hearings
– Applicant will be required to develop strategies and Arguments in preparation of cases
– Applicant must possess Legal Drafting, Research, Writing and Communication skills
– Taking instructions from clients
– Prepare Trial Briefs, Exhibits, Affidavits, Motions and other documents
– Writing and Managing Legal Briefs
– Preparation of Court Processes for filing in Court
– Conducting Trials in Court
– Additional duties as may be assigned
REQUIREMENTS
– Applicant should possess an LLB with not less than 5-7 years post call and working experience as a litigation lawyer in a reputable Law firm
– Applicant must be conversant with Court hierarchies and their locations and other major Regulatory Agencies within Nigeria, in particular, must have carried out filings and other relevant activities within the various lower and appellate Courts in Nigeria
– Applicable knowledge of Motions, Discovery, Evidence, Litigation documentation, Court Rules and Procedures, Practices etc.
– Be technologically savvy
– Highly organized with an ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
– Strong written and communication skills along
– Attention to details and Critical thinking
– Effective document management/organizational skills
– Organized with strong conceptual and research skills
– Strong interpersonal skills
– Excellent comprehension of the law
– Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
– Ability to work independently and as part of a team
