As the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) National Executive Council (NEC) meeting convenes in Ilorin, Kwara State, former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, has extended a warm welcome to delegates, urging them to uphold the core values of justice, equity, and national service.

In a statement issued ahead of the meeting, Akangbe expressed his delight at receiving the NBA President, National Officers, and NEC members in the “ancient and harmonious city” of Ilorin, which he described as a place of “quiet dignity and rich heritage,” ideal for meaningful deliberations.

“This meeting is not merely about sharing ideas, but about fulfilling our duty—duty to the law, to justice, and to our nation, Nigeria,” he said.

Reflecting on the state of the nation, Akangbe noted that “in these times when the moral fabric of our nation is tested, the Bar must stand as the temple of conscience and the last beacon of reason.”

He called on delegates to approach the meeting with a sense of solemn responsibility, emphasizing that the decisions made during this gathering should reflect the enduring values of “truth, equity, and service.”

Wishing the delegates fruitful engagements, Akangbe concluded with a prayer for peaceful deliberations and safe travels for all attendees.
