A 99-year lease granted to the Ojora family by the colonial government of Lagos in 1925 for land in the Orile/Iganmu area has expired, according to Chief Akinfolabi Akindele, the CEO of Adamakin Investment and Works Ltd and sole attorney to the trustees of the Estate of Madam Iyalode Efuronye Tinubu.

Speaking as the sole attorney to the trustees of Madam Iyalode Efunroye Tinubu’s Estate, Chief Akindele revealed that the land in question was originally part of a larger acquisition by Madam Tinubu from Oloto Baalo in 1834, before being leased to the Ojora family by the colonial governor.

The lease agreement, registered as 39/39/1925 in the Land Registry Alausa, Lagos, specifically designated the land for farming and residential purposes. However, Chief Akindele alleges that the Ojora family violated these terms by subletting and selling portions of the land to third parties.

With the expiration of the lease, the reversionary interest in the property now reverts to the Estate of Efunroye Tinubu. The Estate’s representatives have announced that all future transactions concerning lands within the survey plan attached to the original lease must be conducted through the Estate’s attorney.

This development could have significant implications for current property holders and future developments in the Orile/Iganmu area, which has become a vital part of metropolitan Lagos.

For further inquiries regarding transactions within the affected area, interested parties are advised to contact the attorney to the trustees of the Efunroye Tinubu Estate.
