The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, is set to present a new book on the history and evolution of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The book, titled “The Supreme Court of Nigeria: History, Establishment, Jurists & Speeches,” will be publicly presented on Wednesday, December 13th, 2023 at the Providence Hotel in GRA, Ikeja.

In a statement from his office, Mr. Pedro said the book contains over 40 valedictory speeches from retired Supreme Court Justices, providing rare insight into the inner workings of the top bench.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has written the foreword. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State will be the chief launcher at the event.

Former NBA President Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, will chair the occasion. While former Deputy Chief of Staff Mr. Adeola Ipaye will review the book, Dr. Kemi Pinheiro, SAN will deliver a lecture on the topic “Supreme Court: The Past, The Present and The Future.”

The Attorney General described the publication as a “classical book highlighting the Supreme Court as the apex court in Nigeria’s judicial hierarchy.” The ceremony promises to assemble top figures from the bar and bench.
