Dr Yusuf, a former commissioner of health under Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s administration was arraigned by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission. The former commissioner was accused for three-count charge of Criminal Breach of Trust, Disobeying Administration direction and Corrupt Practices. The offences were contrary to Sections 315 and 123 (a) of the Criminal Code of Procedure as well as Section 24 sub-section (a)(1) of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission as amended. When the case came out on Thursday for mentioning, the Prosecution Counsel, Barrister Mahmud Balarabe, submitted a charge sheet and summary of evidence to the court and urged it to adopt same as the commission’s oral address. However, when the charge sheet was read to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty to all the three charges levelled against him. In view of the development, his Counsel, Barrister Nuraini Jimoh, applied for his bail on grounds that he had already been on administrative bail. In her ruling, the presiding Judge, Justice Aisha Rabi’u Danlami granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties of like sum. She averred that “Although the three charges levelled against the accused person are criminal offences but they are bailable, hence, this honourable court has granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties of like sum.” Justice Aisha also adjourned the case till 30th April, 2018 for continuation.]]>
