The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the election of Godwin Obaseki as the governor of Edo. The court dismissed appeal filed by Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 governorship election in the state. Ize-Iyamu had challenged the decision of the appeal court which affirmed the position of Obaseki as governor. The Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen led seven other judges that gave the judgement. The apex court said it will give its reasons for the judgment on July 24, 2017.]]>
