Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, has arrived in Awe town, Nasarawa state, to visit Muhammad Sanusi II, the recently deposed emir of Kano.

The governor arrived silently in a seven-car convoy at about 12:47pm on Friday.

Against the norm for Nigerian governors, el-Rufai’s convoy moved into the town without the use of loud sirens.

Security sources told TheCable, not TheNigerialawyer that Muhammad Sanusi II will be allowed to step out to pray with his visitor.

Upon el-Rufai’s arrival, about nine soldiers came in with a Nigerian army vehicle to man the environment.

Recall reported a possible visit by the governor on Thursday, following a beef up in security and info from security sources.

The state government confirmed the visit Friday morning, a few hours before el-Rufai arrived.

It is unclear if the governor will be speaking to the media after his meeting with Sanusi.
