…Say They Are Ready To Lay Down Their Lives In what appears to be a final showdown ahead of 2019 general elections, not less than 34 political parties on Monday converged on Abuja to form a grand alliance and signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the auspices of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The event, which was witnessed by the politicians from all walks of life, also witnessed the convergence of politicians from across various political, ethnic and religion affiliations as well as political heavy weights in the country. It was held at Musa Yar’Adua Center located at the Central area of the nation’s capital. Speaking at the event, the leader of Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC), Buba Galadima, said that they were ready to lay down their lives to rescue the country from the ineptitude of President Muhammadu Buhari-led government. He noted that the alliance will not only send shivers down the spine of the ruling party but the entire world. “Since we made declaration to form rAPC we have received series of support and solidarity from all over the world. That I am confident should we put our act together, if we are fair to ourselves and do things transparently in bringing out one man or woman. This is not a tea party and the man we are facing is military general but we know him and you know that I know him. “If I were him and if I were his advisers, I will advise him not to attempt to contest. If what I know and what I have access to I assure you that General Buhari will not only lose the election, but also his deposits. “From the day we announced Reformed-APC, a lot of people received pressure to persuade them to back out. They said so many things, they said we are inconsequential and we do not matter. But when we were forming the party APC of which I was one of the nine signatories, if we are inconsequential why are they running helter-skelter from pole to pole going to National Assembly to persuade my people that they should not leave? “So this is a challenge to them and I assure you seated here that if we can put our act together, talk together, work together and be true to one another, the sky is our limit and success is our own,” Galadima stated. He said that they are ready to lay down their lives in order to achieve their aims. While calling on Nigerians to vote for candidates who will emerge under the new name of the alliance. The National Chairman of People Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, said that it is time to drop personal interests as the young ones are looking up to them, adding that they were not afraid of being arrested while trying to salvage the country. He called on President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conducts a free and fair election in Ekiti State, adding that if the election is rigged there will be no election in 2019. According to him “This day 9th of July it would be on record on the historical map of Nigeria that all of you gathered together to rescue this nation. It is important to know that who is who in Nigeria is in this hall today. “This grand alliance today will be the beginning of all Nigerians to come together to rescue our government, rescue Nigeria from the intimidation, harassment, breakdown of rule of law and killings across the country.” At the event, all the chairmen were made to sign the agreement with the view to voting out APC come 2019. The new political marriage between the opposition parties may lead to the eclipse in the name of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP). Some of the political parties that formed the alliance are ; rAPC, GPN, DPN, AA, CAC, NCP, PPA, ADC, PDA, GPN , C4C, DPC, PPN, MATA, PDC, NGP, ADP, PENDEL, UDP, BMPP, YDP, DPC, AGA, GDPN, AD, MMM, RNP, UNUP, NGCP, NIP, REL, UPL, KOWA PARTY, NIM.
