The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, has agreed to suspend its two months strike.
In a chat with TheNigerialawyer, JUSUN treasurer, Jimoh Musa, said the strike suspension was agreed during a meeting between the Union and the National Judicial Council, NJC, on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
However, he further said that the suspension has to be approved by National Executive Council of JUSUN, being the highest decision-making body of the Union.
He also said that after two or three months of suspension if the Governors fail to do the needful the union will begin a new strike.
Musa said the state governors were yet to commence direct payment of monthly allocations from the federation account to the judiciary, as agreed in the series of reconciliatory meetings convened by the Labour Minister, Chris Ngige.
“They (governors) have not started paying (the funds directly to the NJC). We are waiting for the state governors to commence payment so that we can inform our workers.
Based on the Notice sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer signed by its Publicity Secretary, JUSUN NEC will hold an emergency meeting on Wednesday (Tomorrow).
“The meeting with the National Judicial Council (NJC) held today and the outcome necessitate an Emergency NEC.
“You are hereby invited to an Emergency NEC Meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday 9th, June 2021 at 2.00pm. The venue remains the Secretariat.
“As agreed in the last NEC, An Emergency NEC Meeting could be called at any time, hence this call.”
He also noted that those who may not be able to attend physically can join the NEC meeting via Zoom.
