Today, the 19th of February, Ugochukwu Obi, a Partner at Perchstone & Graeys, will be facilitating the 3rd session of the 4-day NBA-ICLE training for Mastering Blockchain for lawyers at 2 p.m.

The training on blockchain, which commenced on February 15, 2024, is set to continue on a stronger and more exciting note as today’s session seeks to take participants on an enlightening voyage through the various applications of blockchain technology within the legal sector.

In today’s session, participants will be made to take a deep dive into cutting-edge advancements and practical implementations, of how blockchain is revolutionising traditional legal practices. This specifically includes learning about smart contracts in legal agreements, blockchain for document verification and notarization, blockchain in contract management and dispute resolution, tokenization, asset-backed securities, real estate transactions, and land registries on the blockchain.

The session will be expansively led by Ugo, who is the head of the Information Communications and Technology (ICT) and Fintech Practice Group at P & G, a distinguished corporate, commercial, and Fintech lawyer with an in-depth understanding of the Nigerian legal landscape and who is pivotal in shaping P&G’s Fintech practice into a powerhouse within the legal sphere, notably through his adept guidance on the intersection of law and technology within the financial sector.

With a rich and profound industry background in the banking industry, Ugo has honed his expertise through his tenure as an experienced in-house lawyer at two leading banks in Nigeria, where he gained valuable insights into the intricacies of banking and financial law. Beyond practice, Ugo has actively participated in shaping regulatory frameworks and standards. His involvement in the committee that reviewed the SEC Rules on Crowdfunding, released by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in February 2021, serves as a testament to his impactful contributions in shaping contemporary regulatory frameworks within the Nigerian financial landscape.
