The 10th anniversary of the NBA, Gwagwalada branch which took place on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 witnessed the decoration and presentation of awards of honor to distinguished members who have contributed their quota to the growth of the branch.

During the event, the Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Justice Husseini Baba Yusuf who also happened to be the chairman of the occasion duly recognized and called upon Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama, SAN to present a plaque to his namesake, Professor Josephine Agbonika, SAN (popularly known as Mother of Gwagwalada branch) for her selfless contributions to the branch.

Prior to the presentation of the award to Prof. Josephine, the Learned Silk informed all that he and the CJ of the FCT High Court are namesakes as he was named “Yusuf” at birth.

He further stated that the popular chewing gum “bazooka joe” influenced his name change to “Joe” (Joseph) which is the English version of “Yusuf” in Hausa and as such, Prof. Josephine Agbonika is indeed his namesake.

The Learned Silk jokingly stated that the CJ of the FCT High Court (Yusuf) and the awardee (Josephine) are both his namesakes and this statement sent the crowd into a state of laughter.

Finally, the Learned Silk expressed his profound gratitude to the chairman of the occasion and the branch for the opportunity given to present the award of honor to his namesake. He alluded to the fact that the opportunity was a great privilege and honor which shall never be taken for granted.
