The history of Nigeria cannot be complete without the mention of the very important role the women played in the emancipation of Nigerian citizens from the shackles of colonial imperialists in what is today known as the Women’s War of 1929. The likes of the late Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome Kuti, Mrs. Margaret Ekpo, Ambassador Adenike Ebun Oyagbola ,Mrs. Ema Brown, Professor Dora Akunyili; our own Chief Folake Solanke SAN , Precillia Kuye Esq. first female President of NBA, Hon. Justice Aloma Murkta, former Chief Justice of Nigeria, just to mention a few have contributed in no small ways to the development of our country, Nigeria. Our female lawyers have been at the fore front of the protection of citizens’ rights and promotion of the rule of law in our society. The role of groups like the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), Nigeria, which has over the years stood against all forms of domestic violence against women and children in our society is highly commendable and further gives credence to the vital role women play in our nationhood. I celebrate with women all over the globe, especially our female colleagues and Nigerian women who are working tirelessly to make our world a better place. I wish them a very happy and rewarding International Women’s Day celebration in 2018. Arthur Obi Okafor SAN, FCIArb. FICMC]]>
