The President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has constituted a 20-member Transition Committee to facilitate the handover process to the newly elected NBA national officers.

In a notice issued to members of the association, Osigwe said the committee would work with a separate transition team to be constituted by the NBA President-elect, Mrs Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN.

According to him, the arrangement is intended to ensure that the incoming administration begins serving members of the association immediately upon assuming office.

The committee will be responsible for coordinating a smooth transfer of responsibilities, records and other relevant matters to the incoming leadership, while addressing any challenges that may arise during the handover process.

Former NBA presidential candidate Jonathan Gunu Taidi, SAN, was appointed chairman of the committee, while Princess Hadiza Afegbua will serve as co-chair.

Osigwe stated that the committee may dispense with physical meetings where necessary or conduct its proceedings through hybrid meetings.

The committee is also expected to liaise with the Transition Implementation Committee to be established by Badejo-Okusanya ahead of the formal handover to the incoming administration.

The NBA President thanked the members for accepting to serve and expressed confidence that their work would contribute to an orderly and seamless transition.
