The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators is pleased to introduce her course on Online Dispute Resolution (ODR).

The Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators is the professional body of dispute resolution practitioners with the mandate to regulate the practice of Mediation, train prospective candidates, and encourage organizations and institutions to adopt Mediation and Conciliation as the primary means for addressing disputes.

Technology is revolutionizing not only the way we interact and do business, but the way we resolve disputes within the courts and outside the court system. As technology has progressed, mankind has found new ways to incorporate it into various fields like education, commerce, medicine, and many more; including dispute resolution.

The fundamental principle of the Rule of Law is equal justice, and equal justice depends on equal access. To achieve equal access to justice, we must consider a wide array of options, one of which should be online options.

The field of Online Dispute Resolution, which has developed significantly in the last decade, due to the massive rise in online commercial activities, advocates the use of technology in various dispute resolution processes.

Is Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) the same as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)? How do we successfully conduct Mediation or Arbitration without the physical element? I’m not comfortable with advanced technology, how do I conduct my dispute resolution proceedings online? This interactive course will do a deep dive into the fast-growing field of Online Dispute Resolution, talk about the ethics of ODR practice, discuss the various forms of ODR and its inherent benefits, and teach participants; in an easy-to-follow format, how to effectively carry out Mediation and Arbitration proceedings online.

The course is scheduled to hold as follows:

Date: July 29-30, 2020
